More Good News

Yesterday I got a call from my new boss asking if I would like to teach the full day instead of team teaching this year. "Heck yes!" I said. Not really, but that's what I was thinking. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in a classroom and learn from other teachers. I was kind of nervous about team teaching--having to coordinate decorating and activities with another teacher. So I'm on my own! I decided to drop one of my classes for the fall, because it might be too much. I spent some time in one of the summer school classes at Bluff View this week and it took about 5 minutes to fall in love with the kids. Natalie constantly wanted to "read" to me (holding the book like a teacher and looking at pictures to tell the story.) She even licks her finger when she turns the page, like Mrs. Barkley! One day on the playground, I was sitting with a group of kids in my class, and a 5-year-old boy from another class ran up and said, "I want to tell you something--you're pretty." Then he ran away. They start young, huh? I started a game of "red light, green light" on the playground, helped kids with a giant solar system puzzle and practiced opposites. While doing the solar system puzzle, Collin pointed at a bright spot next to Venus and said, "this hits the earth and that's how we come alive." I learn so much from four year olds!
